Pranayama Breathwork:
Breathing is the unconscious action that keeps our bodies alive. So powerful, it connects our mind,
body and spirit. When we’re stressed or anxious, we commonly breathe in short, shallow breaths –
some of us may even hold our breath without realising. All too soon, this becomes our default
breathing pattern, sending us continually into our sympathetic nervous system (freeze, fight or flight
mode). Within as little as one full minute of conscious breathing, it is possible to completely clear
the bloodstream of the stress hormone cortisol and bring the body into a calm state of being. Being
conscious of the way you breathe, and a regular practice can change your default unconscious
breathing pattern and make a transformational difference to your mental and physical wellbeing.
